Drops appearing in the dried emulsion - Coating too thick

▶  Description of the problem

When the screen has finished drying, you can see bubbles of emulsion on the mesh.

▶  Possible origins

The most probable reason for this is that your emulsion coating was too thick. When putting the screen flat to dry, excess of emlsion built at the lower point and created those blobs.

Two possible origins:

  • one is that you didn't remove the black rubber parts of your scoop coater (they are only there to protect it during transport.)
    • the other is that you don't master the coating movement yet, which is common if you are beginning, but it'll come with time!

      ▶  Solution

      1. If you didn't expose your screen yet, just clean it with water and a sponge, and repeat the coating operation. 

      Check our tutorial again to see the coating movement and try to reproduce it. Everything is in the gesture: it needs to be steady, sharp and precise. This can take some time to learn but keep trying!The coating should leave a very thin and even layer of emulsion, without "blobs" or irregularities. This way it will be able to keep details of the design after exposition.      

      2. If you already exposed and hardened the emulsion, you need to reclaim it before using your screen again and trying a new, thinner coating.
