CNC Milling

Troubleshooting guides

Kit Assembly

You are mounting the cables on the machine's frame but when plugging them onto the motor, you notice that 1 XLR connector is not able to reach the control unit.

At the end of the assembly, you are fixing your spoilerboard to the frame and you notice the Y motors (or the spacers) touch the MDF boards.

Software, Interface & Keypad

The bluetooth keypad is giving the wrong output to the interface unitFor example, pressing on the "G" gives "/" or "F" gives "*"

When you press a key on the bluetooth keypad, nothing happens.

A step by step guide to reset all parameters of PlanetCNC, or to update its settings with a newer profile available in the download section.

You wish to update the PlanetCNC version on the Raspberry of your Mekanika CNC machine.

Your screen is frozen and shows the Raspberry Pi logo.

Motion & Motors

One of your axes moves in the opposite direction to the corresponding arrow on your keypad.

Nothing happens when you press the Y keys on your keypad nor the Y arrows on your screen.

When pressing Z arrows on your key pad or screen, the Z axis only goes down but can never go upwards.

Machine Error

All operations are frozen. The machine won't move and there is a blue square around the Emergency Stop icon in Planet CNC (meaning it is activated and locks the machine).

When pressing the Home button on Evo, the procedure doesn't complete properly (it should touch the Z, X and Y switches).

Tips & Tricks

Your end mills keep breaking even though they are new and of good quality.

You plan a very long milling job, for which you'll need to shut down your machine to continue the job later.

The cut part's measurement are outside the tolerance of your machine, or shapes get deformed (square become trapezoidal, circle become oval, etc...).

Some milling jobs use multiple end mills. This requires a tool change operation and here's how to do it on a Mekanika CNC machine.
