When plugging the cables you realise that one of them is to short to reach the control unit.
You are mounting the cables on the machine's frame but after plugging them onto their motors/limits, you notice that an XLR connector is not able to reach the control unit.
2. Solution
First of all start by checking if the color of the cables are matching the color of the connector on your control unit. If this is not the case, make the needed corrections.
