8. Getting Ready

Step #01 - Congratulations

Congratulations!

Your vacuum system is now ready!

In order to help you with your new clamping system you'll find below a "Tips & tricks" section that might help you in many situations.

Tips & tricks

  1. Operate the tool length measurement script (Z probe) with the vacuum pump switched on.
    1. Open the guillotine valves corresponding to the size of your workpiece to maximize suction.
      1. Always check that your work piece is securely fastened before starting work.
        1. Use your grip-lock mat if your workpiece is smaller than 40x40cm or if it has a low coefficient of friction.
          1. When milling small parts, use down-cut end mills to push the material down rather than pull it up.
            1. Keep the tabs on small pieces.
              1. Prefer onion-skinning when possible to maintain full suction power throughout your work.

Although this table can clamp various types and sizes of material, you may find yourself in situations that the pump cannot solve. Remember, you can always remove the MDF spoiler board and access the grid and rubber cord to customize your clamping area.

You'll rapidly notice that the pump is blowing out warm airflow. You can either recycle that energy to heat yor workshop or redirect the flow wherever you like.
